Local Breweries to “Throwdown” Again
One ‘Throwdown” was not enough, as the owners of Burnt Timber Brewing & Tavern in Wolfeboro and Twin Barns Brewing seek “revenge” in the Lakes Region Brewery Throwdown Rematch on Friday, April 9.
Battling over their respective meatballs in the first Throwdown Challenge in February, both breweries have their sights on demonstrating the supremacy of their pork sliders this time. “We battled them at their place in Meredith last time, but this time they need to come to Wolfeboro on our home turf,” said Eddie Michno, owner of Burnt Timber Brewing & Tavern. “It’s going to be a great victory for us.”
Dave Picarillo, owner of Twin Barns Brewing , begged to differ as to the outcome of the first challenge. “It was clear we won, but Eddie took it hard,” said Picarillo, who said the truth is that both breweries work together to promote one another. “We host these fun challenges to get people excited about some great local flavor and brews right in their backyards so to speak. We are both committed to our communities, and so we share the same goals as businesses.”
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish NH. “This is a great nonprofit and one that does a lot of good for kids in tough circumstances,” said Michno. “I’m glad Dave and I can partner up again to make a difference while creating a great community event.”
Citing plans to open an open-flame outdoor kitchen with seating this summer, Michno said the Lakes Region Brewery Throwdown Rematch will feature outdoor seating with “plenty of space.” “This is a great way to have some fun, practice social distancing and contribute to a great cause,” he said.
Michno said it will also be a great opportunity for victory. “We are going to win,” he said.
Advanced registration is not required for the event, as first-come will be first-served.
