Burnt Timber Prepared for Summer

More Than A Brewery

“Our menu changes seasonally and features as many local ingredients as possible.”

Summer is almost here, which has many local business owners like Eddie Michno of Burnt Timber Brewing & Tavern excited to welcome back new and returning visitors to the Lakes Region. “The summer is certainly a busy time of year for us,” he said.

This summer may be especially busy for Burnt Timber, which nearly doubled its space last summer and is now entirely remodeled both inside and out. Highlighted by a new bar area and kitchen, the expanded space features two dining areas, one complete with a large community table.

The new space, according to Michno, helps to highlight an expanded food menu with handcrafted cocktails and mocktails. Burnt Timber also offers off-site catering and regularly hosts in-house catered events. “This is not just a brewery, but a place you can bring your kids or take your partner out on a date,” he said. “Our menu changes seasonally and features as many local ingredients as possible.”

Burnt Timber’s beers also often feature local ingredients, such as their soon to be released Spruce Juice (6.2% ABV), a pale ale brewed with foraged spruce tips and maple syrup. Burnt Timber is most known, however, for what Michno referred to as their “funky take” on beers, which deviate from the pale ale formula that “saturates the industry.” “We specialize in farmhouse ales,” he said. “Wolfeboro may be a bustling tourist destination, but rural farm living is still at the heart of this area.”

For Michno, his appeal to Wolfeboro’s farming roots is grounded in his current experience on his own 10-acre hobby farm, which served as backdrop to Burnt Timber’s founding in 2016. “I fed our pigs and chickens spent mash.”

He quickly outgrew his farm, however, which led to his move to downtown Wolfeboro. “It’s a terrific location, because you can walk here right from the docks or rail trail,” he said. “I think we have a good vibe here…we are prepared for summer.”
